DEAR CUSTOMER

Rizzo Group declared bankrupt

Rizzo Group AB (Publ) was declared bankrupt on April 3, 2024, and attorney Nils Åberg at Advokatfirman Carler has been appointed as bankruptcy trustee. Liquidation sales in the company’s stores are now being conducted under the administration of the bankruptcy estate.

Below are answers to some frequently asked questions.

Returns

No returns are accepted for goods purchased in stores. No returns are accepted for products purchased online either. Customers who have ordered goods online have a theoretical right under the Distance Contracts Act to withdraw from the agreement (right of withdrawal) within two weeks, but due to the bankruptcy, no payment can be made to the customer; instead, the customer receives a claim in the bankruptcy. Therefore, it is normally only to the customer’s disadvantage to cancel a purchase made before the bankruptcy after the bankruptcy has occurred.

If you believe you have a claim for compensation against the bankrupt company, follow the instructions in the section “Filing a claim for compensation in the bankruptcy” below.

Complaints

The bankrupt company no longer has the ability to receive complaints. Customers who wish to file a complaint regarding goods must instead file a claim for compensation in the bankruptcy according to the instructions in the section “Filing a claim for compensation in the bankruptcy” below.

If you paid for the purchase with a credit card, you may in certain cases have the possibility to file a claim for compensation directly against the credit card issuer for reimbursement in the event of non-delivery or defects in the goods. In such cases, contact your credit provider directly.

Open purchase and exchanges

Due to the bankruptcy, no terms regarding open purchase apply. You therefore cannot return goods on that basis. Nor can any right of exchange, regardless of reason, be accepted.

Gift cards, credits, and membership benefits

Due to the bankruptcy, gift cards purchased before the bankruptcy cannot be used as a means of payment. Other credits cannot be used as a means of payment either.

Claims for compensation due to the inability to use the gift card/credit may be filed with the bankruptcy trustee according to the instructions in the section “Filing a claim for compensation in the bankruptcy” below.

Filing a claim for compensation in the bankruptcy

File your claim for compensation by emailing [email protected]. The claim must include the following information: (state the following in the subject line: Rizzo Krav)

  • Full name and postal address.
  • The amount for which compensation is requested.
  • Documentation supporting the claim (e.g., receipt, copy or image of gift card/credit voucher, etc.)

Remember to retain all receipts and other documentation (order confirmation, delivery notes, etc.) in support of your claim for compensation.

All claims filed in the bankruptcy will be compiled in a bankruptcy estate inventory that will be submitted to the district court that issued the decision to declare the company bankrupt.

Claims from consumers constitute so-called unsecured claims in the bankruptcy. If distribution becomes relevant to unsecured creditors, including consumers, the bankruptcy trustee will request that the district court decide to initiate a proof of claim procedure. In such cases, you will be contacted directly by the district court with more information and a request to file your claim in the bankruptcy.

Please note that it may take between 6-12 months before the bankruptcy trustee can provide any information regarding whether distribution to unsecured creditors is relevant.
